Sap filters for maple sugaring

Filter all sap before boiling (debris, insects, bark, later yeast); as simple as a coffee filter or cheesecloth, or a reusable sap filter / canister.

Our pick

Top pick: Vermont Evaporator 7 in stainless Sap Strainer ($28.00)
Budget pick: Coffee filters or cheesecloth (Cornell NB p.76); Any clean coarse filter satisfies the extension rule; the stainless strainer is the only reusable product read with a stated material.; What would change it: Tubing systems dumping into a tank favour the inline Pop-on bag filter (100 micron).
